Riding Bikes and Raising Awareness for Autism

The Parkway Pedal Ride for Autism is coming up this weekend and Chris Jensen, President of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Utah, and Angela Wright from Bingham Cyclery recently appeared on ABC4 Utah to talk about what’s in store for the big event. From why ride for autism to details about an exciting giveaway to how the Legacy Parkway and Jordan River Parkway trails are the perfect venue, Chris and Angela offer some great insight.

“All the proceeds go to benefit the Autism Council of Utah. Autism in Utah effects 1 in 54 children and it costs the average family about $60,000 to raise an autistic child – a year,” explains Chris.

As for that giveaway, Angela explains that when you register for the Parkway Pedal you’re entered into the raffle for the opportunity to win a new bike and there are four bikes being given away: a men and women’s electric cruiser and two children’s bikes.

“The bike is just the medium for a really great experience,” says Angela. “We really feel proud to be part of the first event that’s coming here to Utah and being able to get more people on bikes. That’s a win-win for everybody. And if it just happens to shed some light on autism, that’s just the cherry on top.”

In addition to the ride and giveaway, there will be live music, food trucks, games, and festivities centered around family fun. The event is open to the public and there are fun ride options for beginners and younger cyclists, as well as rigorous routes for more advanced riders.
