ACU’s Annual Meeting 2011

The President of the Autism Council of Utah, Cheryl Smith, introduced this year’s three presenters.
Dr. Barney Olsen, DDS, MS discussed dentistry for children with special needs, and the D-Termined Program (Dr. David Tesini) that he follows. Here is his presentation. Meet Dr. Barney, as he is affectionately called, and his wonderful staff at kidgrin.com.
Paul Day is the Autism Program Specialist for Washington County School District. Make sure you watch the introductory video to see a summary of what he discussed, which can be seen on our YouTube channel.
Josette Dorious, Service Director for the HOME Program (Healthy Outcomes Medical Excellence), outlined how her clinic provides medical AND mental health services for their clients. Her presentation is here, and this is the program’s website.

Cathy Longstroth introduced a brand new DVD and training program created for general educators, called Autism: Essentials for Educators. Clips of that video were shown thoughout the meeting, and the full video can be seen here. The training materials were distributed to attendees, and are also available on the Utah Personnel Development Center’s website, www.updc.org.
Laura Anderson, ACU President Elect, wrapped up the meeting and played us a song by Dave Eaton, which can be heard here.
